Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop

When: Saturday, March 28th from 10am-3:30pm.

Where: The CTK food bank orchard (the fruit is donated to food banks throughout Whatcom County)

What: A fruit tree pruning workshop & work party

Who: All welcome!

Cost: $5-$55 (please pay what you can to support our instructor)

Instructor:  Jane Campbell is a local small tree arborist and orchardist specializing in fruit tree training, maintenance and restoration pruning. This is Jane’s 5th season guiding pruning volunteers in the CTK orchard. She is passionate about sharing the joy of tree care with others and ensuring fruit trees live up to their potential to feed the masses!

Fruit tree pruning is essential for reducing and controlling fruit tree disease as well as pest pressure; sculpting strong branch structure; and, increasing flower and fruit yields. This workshop will cover pruning theory, essential pruning tools, basic tool sharpening and pruning demonstrations. We will cap our learning session with hands-on participant pruning practice in the CTK Orchard.

All participants will be invited to return to the orchard in summer to learn summer thinning and pruning; and, again in the fall to bring in the harvest!

Whether you are newly curious or have years of pruning experience under your belt, we'd love to share our enthusiasm for fruitful trees. Come join us this March in the CTK Orchard!

Attend both Saturdays (March 7th & 28th) to deepen you grasp on pruning and help us get that orchard pruned!
