Jane Campbell Doula Services
Jane (she/her) is a Washington State Medicaid ProviderOne Birth Doula. She serves clients in Bellingham and Whatcom County, providing prenatal, birth and postpartum support. She supports clients at St. Jo’s birth center, Bellingham’s community birth centers as well as clients’ homes.
In January 2026, Jane completed the Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations’ Birth Doula training. Since, she has jumped into taking on clients and receiving mentorship from local veteran doulas. Her professional practice is informed by her experiences providing prenatal, birth and postpartum support to friends and family members over decades as well as her own experiences as a parent. She is a mama to two beautiful, vibrant kids and a survivor of an early pregnancy loss. Each of her own births, at home, in hospital and at a Bellingham community birth center carried their own moments of struggle, power and beauty. Jane is guided by her knowledge that when clients receive respectful, attuned care, birth can empower and enrich their lives, regardless of how it unfolds.

Prenatal visits are also a time for building rapport, sharing resources and exploring what birth tools will be most effective for clients when the time comes.
Starting at 37 weeks, Jane is on call for her clients 24/7.
She provides continuous, personalized labor care through a variety of techniques, including breath and position coaching, supportive touch and massage, visualizations, TENS, photography, and, of course, advocacy through empathic communication.
Postpartum visits allow Jane to continue providing support as clients heal and transition into parenthood. Jane is another set of eyes and ears helping process a lot of change and assessing when additional information or support are needed.
In their birth guide staple, The Birth Partner, Penny Simkin and Melissa Cheyney, PhD, write “…healthy communities start with healthy births. Doulas and other birth partners are one way to help ensure that every birthing person and every baby get the best possible start in life.”
This belief is core to what makes birth doula work so inspiring for Jane. She is honored to be a part of clients’ births and the powerful beginnings they represent.

Testimonials
Deciding to work with Jane was one of the best decisions we could have made. We both felt comfortable right from the start.
Having support from someone who has both personal experience and trained expertise around childbirth shifted our sense of overwhelm and anxiety to manageable information sessions and streamlined conversations.
At the hospital she proved to be a strong reinforcement, keeping track of details and looking out for us in all ways possible. It made me feel very safe, which fulfilled an essential physical and emotional need. It was a real plus that she had some tools and techniques which made a big difference for pain management.
Once delivery kicked off, she was able to photo and video document. It was not something I had thought much about beforehand, but we realized after that she had helped to capture one of the most significant days of our life.
Jane’s care extended to some post birth meetings, which again were helpful as we had certain questions and challenges that she was able to help us work through. At each stage, Jane showed up with our best interest at heart, and we are so grateful that we were able to work with her.

Jane was a wonderful doula for me. Before the birth she initiated meetings with the birth team, and was wonderful at holding space, asking questions, listening and learning about the type of support I would need. She requested the birth meditations that were most impactful for me so that she could learn them deeply and repeat the words to me while I was in labor. She came early in labor and moved with me. During labor I remember holding her strong hands the most, for hours. She held the bowl for me to puke, ran the warm shower water and other comforts, and passed my broken sentences to the midwife. When I lost my rhythm she made the droning sounds that I’d fallen into in early labor for me to mimic and help regain my breath. She did everything with wisdom and grace - organized and supported the other birth team members, coordinated communication with the midwife, and supported me in every possible way.

Jane possesses the rare gift of deep attunement to the needs of the beings in her care, a gift that shines with particular brilliance in the birthing space. Her skill as a compassionate communicator, her humor and levity in the dig-deep moments, and her capacity to hold the whole of the experience all wove a web of support and solidarity. I am so proud and grateful to know that Jane will be supporting more births in the community, as her presence at my son’s birth was truly a blessing!
